2 Johnny Paisano’s vs 7 Leo’s Steak Shop

Philadelphia Cheesesteak Adventure judging 2 Johnny Paisano’s vs 7 Leo’s Steak Shop.  This is a tale of 2 different cheesesteaks.  The 1st time I went to Leo’s I called it a cheesesteak’s cheesesteak.  Leo’s makes big cheesy cheesesteaks.  Johnny is a culinary guru.  I was feeling it so I got the Steak Anthony from Johnny’s.  It was a magical blend of flavors with some Parmesan sprinkled on top.  Johnny’s cooking in the sweet 16.

3 Centrella’s Deli & Italian Market vs 6 The Tattooed Pig – Media
Philadelphia Cheesesteak Adventure judging 3 Centrella’s Deli & Italian Market vs 6 The Tattooed Pig – Media.  This match did not go the way I thought it would go.  If you follow me you know Centrella’s is one of my favorite places.  This was a cheesy cheesesteak.  Unfortunately the cheese dominated the meat and the onions got lost.  I was getting order envy at The Tattooed Pig.  I really wanted the jambalaya special.  Then I saw the grill person had the meat, cheese and onions covered while they cooked.  This was a meaty, cheesy, gooey heavenly concoction.  The Tattooed Pig – Media moves on to the Sweet 16.

9 Rize Pizza vs 16 Delco Steaks
Philadelphia Cheesesteak Adventure judging 9 Rize Pizza vs 16 Delco Steaks.  I keep waiting for Delco Steaks to win March Cheesesteak Madness.  2nd round 2 years they made what may have been the perfect cheesesteak.  They make a big cheesy cheesesteak.  This cheesesteak had a lot of onions on it.  The cheese and onions cover the meat flavor.  Rize made a very well balanced cheesesteak.  The meat, cheese and onions complemented each other very nicely.  In a very close match, Rize wins by the taste of the meat.

12 DiFabio’s Market & Tap vs 13 Murray’s Bar & Grille

Philadelphia Cheesesteak Adventure judging 12 DiFabio’s Market & Tap vs 13 Murray’s Bar & Grille.  Two places that represent their towns very well.  Last year we had DiFabio’s traditional cheesesteak in the tournament.  This year we entered Frankie’s cheesesteak.  Risky move putting Broccoli Rabe on a cheesesteak.  They can cook.  This year we learned that Kevin (I hope that is his name) makes a great Old Fashion.  They are up against Murray’s Bar & Grille.  Vince makes a top tier cheesesteak.  It comes with french fries and is underpriced at $12.  Watch the video.  Murray’s wins the round and moves on to the Sweet 16.
